Jimmy Sez #10

This is the last board of the Monday afternoon club game and you have made a few mistakes.  While your game is reasonable, you feel it needs a little more to be a winner.  You are presented with the hand pictured below as South.  You push a little and land in this shaky slam.  All looks well until trumps break 4-1.  If the club king is onside with four clubs you still have the chance of a squeeze or endplay.

Lead: diamond 8

Dummy takes with the diamond jack, follows to the queen in hand and plays the ace and queen of trumps getting the bad news. The ace of diamonds is trumped and over-ruffed in   dummy.  After drawing the last outstanding trump, a club is lead to the ace and the diamond king is cashed discarding a heart from dummy.  Look what happens to West  when the spade 6 is played.

If a club is pitched dummy pitches the heart and dummy takes the last tricks after the club king is given up.  If he pitches the heart jack he makes the heart queen good in hand.
