Port imps, N-S Vulnerable Sitting South, Here is your hand: S: K
10 9 2 And the Bidding is:
Asim Ulke. I bid 6H to protect my C King. Partner knows that I have the second round club control, and spade fit. Partner can correct to 6S if it looks right. Florine Walters: 6H I think partner is trying to tell me they have something like AQxxxx, xxxx,x, xx or AQJxx, xxxx, xx, xx. If they had the Ace of Clubs they would have cue bid same, so am giving up on seven, and am protecting my holding in the Club suit. Gail Carns: 6S ... 6D might attract a club lead which could be the only lead to beat the contract PJ Prabhu: 6S I debated between 6S, 5S, and to a lesser extent 6D. With D void and solid 6-card H suit, arguably, 5S may not do enough justice to this hand. 6D is too aggressive; I'd bid that if the CK were the A. If partner has AQxxx in S and CA, he should bid 7S. We belong in 6H if partner has Qxxx, xxx, x, AQxxx, but with that hand he should raise H rather than respond 1S. How do we get to 7H if the SQ were the A in the above hand? Herb Sachs: 6S. Partner bid spades for a reason and should have a decent suit. I’m hoping his spades are good. Jim Klein: I pass. I have done all I can to ask partner. It was all in his corner. He may have a Diamond card which does me no good. Jim Bachelder: The auction has gotten too high to be able to bid 7 without guessing but I can make six hearts opposite as little as: QJXXX, XXX, XX, AXX so I will settle for six hearts and honor the adage, "When you're fixed, stay fixed." If partner had that good of a hand for me, he'd have queued 5S or 6C. I'm not going to bring back-100 to my teammates. Anne Zwack: I'm bidding 6 hearts just because I want to Jim Bossert: 6H Partner knows I have four spades and not the ace of clubs so he should be able to make a good decision whether to correct or not Bruce Keidan: 6H Hearts to protect the CK. Six because a) it's hard to construct a north hand consistent with the auction where 6 has no play (7 is more likely to make than 6 is to go down, in my opinion.) Of course, the opponents' seven-level non-vul save on this hand could end up costing them a mere 500 on this hand, but they have to find it first Trudy Cohn: I'm going to pass 5H in order to protect the K of clubs from attack. If partner had a club control, he would most likely have bid six H rather than 5 H. Roni Gitchel: 6S - Partner has to have something for their bid. If we are off the Ace of Clubs it rates to be onside Richard Finberg: 6S-
hopefully pard has an Ace (especially Spade Ace) , and no Heart ruff
available. Pitches on my hearts should cover club losers, but not enough
pitches on Spades if I play in Hearts. INTERNET POST RESULTS:
