1 - Weak
Herb Sachs: 4S.
Who has the hearts? I want a spade lead against a heart bid. If they do,
they will have to bid them at the 5 level, and if I don’t bid 6
diamonds, my partner will have a lead.
Richard Finberg: 5D.
Oppoenents can likely make 4H (or more), and any lesser bid will let
West introduce the Heart suit. Possibly, 4H (or 4S) can be set, but I
prefer defending on the 5 level.
Ernie Retetagos: 4D.
Looks like EW can make at least 9 tricks in hearts
Brian Ellis: Pass.
We are likely to have more than 2 losers in D and 3NT is not a
consideration.
Mary Carns: 5D.
It might make. It might be a good save over their heart game, against
which we have no apparent defense.
Jim Klein: 5D.
Partner rates to have enough to make. Who knows what will happen if
opponents get in a heart bid
Bruce Keidan: Pass.
But willing to take the push if opponents bid and raise hearts next
Roni Gitchel: Pass. Partner could have the
magic hand, but I believe my partner when they say they are weak
Trudy Cohn: 3S. I
think that I owe this hand one game try so I will bid 3S and see what
partner has to say.
Jim Bachelder: I bid 4D
as a block. I think that LHO's hand is 6/4 in the majors which
explains why he didn't double or bid Michaels. EW certainly have a
vulnerable game since I have possibly only two defensive tricks and it
probably is in hearts. Four diamonds should make it more difficult for
them to land on their feet. Five diamonds might go down too many.
Gail Carns: 4D,
trying to avoid the heart bid.
