Matchpoints, N-S Vulnerable

Sitting South, Here is your hand:

S: -------
H:  A 10 6 5 4 3
D: A J 3 2
C: Q 3 2

And the Bidding is:

West North East South
    1NT DBL(1)
2S PASS PASS ????

 1 - One Suited Hand

Ernie Retetagos: I would make a conservative pass at this vulnerability. Since the opponents don't use transfers, partner will be leading through the opener. This could be worth an extra trick on defense.

PJ Prabhu: 3H. This is dangerous action as I could go for 200 or more. But on a good day, 3H may make; or they may fail to double and I get out for -100 (instead of -110 defending 2S). Pass is a good alternative.

Florine Walters: My hearts are not good enough to bid three hearts, even though it could be right, and my hand is not quite good enough to double again. Therefore, I am a chicken and will pass.

Jim Bossert: I pass. Too many losers!

Jim Klein: I Pass. I think it is too dangerous to continue.

Bruce Keidan: Pass. I already owe partner one apology for misbidding my hand at my FIRST opportunity. If I do something "heroic" now, I may owe him dinner. So I will live with my earlier misdescription.

Roni Gitchel: Pass - I've already overbid my hand

Asim Ulke : I bid 3H. May be my original bid should have been 2H, showing hearts and a minor if that is what we play. It is too late now to second guess it. Partner could not double 2S and has points. Pass is not an option.

Gail Carns: Pass This is a terrible hand for the system. I haven't shown my heart suit but it isn't good enough to bid at the 3 level and my hand isn't good enough to double again. Natural would have been a better system here.

Bill Holt: I am going to pass and defend. We're Red, Partner had a chance to take a swing at 2S and did not. If he doesn't have a double, the opponents might have missed a game. It looks as though 2S might not play that well and at matchpoints I would like to go plus. If my suit was better I would be more competitive.

Herb Sachs Dbl (Takeout). Telling partner that he can pass with a spade stack and that I have some “stuff”. If partner has a suit hewill bid it and I will correct. If he can stand anything, he will bid 2NT.

Jim Bachelder: I made my bid and am minimum at that with a so-so suit. I may be down in three hearts and they may not be making two spades. I don't like the vulnerability for either bidding or doubling. Pass

 INTERNET   POST  RESULTS:

BID SCORE NAT PGH
DBL 100 7 1
